No. 160 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The North Richland Hills Parks and Recreation Department received the 2013 Texas Gold Medal Award from the Texas Recreation and Park Society; and WHEREAS, A nonprofit professional and educational organization, TRAPS works to advance parks, recreation, and leisure services professions in Texas; its annual Gold Medal Awards are presented to communities that have demonstrated excellence for three consecutive years in park and recreation resource management, community programs, long-range planning, and solicitation of public input; and WHEREAS, Under the leadership of managing director of community services Vickie Loftice and assistant directors Bill Thornton and Sharon Davis, NRH Parks and Recreation offers residents more than 740 acres of parkland, as well as facilities for athletics, community events, and cultural programs; the department received the Texas Gold Medal Award in the category for cities with populations between 50,000 and 100,000; and WHEREAS, The North Richland Hills Parks and Recreation Department contributes significantly to the quality of life in the area, and all those associated with it may indeed take great pride in this prestigious recognition of their efforts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate the North Richland Hills Parks and Recreation Department on its receipt of the 2013 Texas Gold Medal Award from the Texas Recreation and Park Society and extend to its staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the department as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
