 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, For the second consecutive year, Baptist
 St. Anthony's Health System has earned a place on the Thomson
 Reuters list of "100 Top Hospitals" in the United States; and
 WHEREAS, This highly respected assessment has been published
 annually since 1993, and it uses objective research and independent
 public information to evaluate hospitals based on such performance
 measures as patient care, operational efficiency, and financial
 stability; and
 WHEREAS, One of just nine Texas hospitals featured in the
 2013 rankings, Baptist St. Anthony's traces its roots to 1901, when
 four young women from the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word
 founded a health care facility to serve the needs of citizens in
 Amarillo and the greater Texas Panhandle; St. Anthony's Hospital,
 as it was originally known, later established the area's first
 nursing school, hospice, and cardiac unit; and
 WHEREAS, In 1996, the Baptist St. Anthony's Health System was
 formed through the merger of St. Anthony's Hospital and High Plains
 Baptist Hospital, which had been founded in 1968 and had pioneered
 important developments in such fields as occupational therapy and
 rehabilitation services; today, Baptist St. Anthony's includes a
 medical staff of over 450 physicians and a total workforce of more
 than 2,700 employees; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout its long and rich history, Baptist
 St. Anthony's Health System has distinguished itself through its
 dedication to excellence and its commitment to serving the
 community, and it is indeed deserving of the prestigious national
 recognition it has received; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Baptist
 St. Anthony's Health System on its selection as one of the 2013 "100
 Top Hospitals" by Thomson Reuters and extend to all those
 associated with the system sincere best wishes for continued
 success with their important work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Baptist St. Anthony's Health System as an expression
 of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
