SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 4 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize First United Methodist Church of Hebbronville on the occasion of its 100th anniversary and the unveiling of a Texas Historical Marker commemorating its beginnings; and WHEREAS, First United Methodist Church of Hebbronville traces its roots to a congregation established on December 12, 1912, by Reverend C. W. Perkins and a group of six dedicated citizens; and WHEREAS, Through the years, the church has ministered faithfully to the temporal and spiritual needs of countless people; under the guidance and wise stewardship of its pastors, and with the outstanding leadership of its current pastor, Ray Aponte, the church has continued to grow and to play a vital role in the life of the community; and WHEREAS, First United Methodist Church of Hebbronville has become an indispensable source of strength for church members during times of hardship and bereavement and a place of fellowship during times of abundance and celebration; and WHEREAS, The commemoration of its 100th anniversary is a reflection of the church's enduring commitment to its mission of providing enlightenment and hope to its congregation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and members of First United Methodist Church of Hebbronville on the joyous occasion of the church's 100th anniversary and the unveiling of its Texas Historical Marker; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the church as a memento of this historic occasion.
