SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 58 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Doris Sanchez, who is retiring July 31, 2013, after more than 20 years of outstanding service to the state; and WHEREAS, Doris began her career in state service in 1991 as press secretary for Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr.; in 2010, she joined the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, where she continued to provide invaluable service; and WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, she undertook many duties in Senator Lucio's office, including serving as director for the Joint Committee on Nutrition and Health in Public Schools and working to help shepherd bills through to passage; and WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, she has handled her many responsibilities with exceptional efficiency and dedication; while serving the state, she also earned a certificate in public management from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, which honored her with the George C. Askew Award for best research paper; and WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, she is respected and admired by her colleagues, and her presence at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Doris Sanchez on her exceptional service to the people of Texas and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
