                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 68
 In Memory
 of
 Wesley Taylor, Sr.
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Wesley Taylor, Sr., who died June 21,
 2013, at the age of 90; and
 WHEREAS, Wesley Taylor was an exemplary citizen who was
 widely admired in his community for his many achievements; and
 WHEREAS, He was born June 10, 1923, in Grapeland, to Frank
 and Lauretta Taylor; a 1942 graduate of Crockett High School, he
 attended Texas Southern University, where he studied auto
 mechanics; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor served the nation with distinction
 during World War II in the United States Army and rose to the rank
 of sergeant; he went on to enjoy a long and productive career as a
 self-employed construction worker; and
 WHEREAS, He married Jessie Mae West on June 28, 1947, and
 the couple enjoyed 66 years of marriage together; they raised
 four sons, Wesley, Jerry, Timothy, and Everett, and they were
 blessed with nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren;
 and
 WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he
 gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued
 counsel will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to
 share in his life; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
 grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
 forever by his family and countless friends; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
 condolences to the bereaved family of Wesley Taylor, Sr.; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Wesley Taylor, Sr.
