SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 88
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Martha Gustavsen, who retired June 28, 2013, after
nearly 27 years of exceptional service as treasurer of Montgomery
County; and
WHEREAS, Martha was elected county treasurer in 1986 after
having served as an office manager for the Conroe Chamber of
Commerce, as a member of the board of the Conroe Independent
School District, and as a district representative for
Congressmen Phil Gramm and Joe Barton; and
WHEREAS, Under her leadership, the treasurer's office has
handled the county's financial affairs skillfully and with the
utmost professionalism; she served for a year as president of the
County Treasurers' Association of Texas, and in 2002, she was
named Outstanding County Treasurer of Texas; and
WHEREAS, She was appointed by Governor George W. Bush to
serve a five-year term on the board of the Texas County and
District Retirement System and was reappointed to the position by
Governor Rick Perry; and
WHEREAS, She has been married to her husband, Bob, for 50
years; the couple has been blessed with three children, nine
grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, she is respected and
admired by her colleagues, and her presence in the Montgomery
County Treasurer's Office will be greatly missed; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Martha Gustavsen
on her exceptional service to the people of Montgomery County as
county treasurer and extend to her best wishes for continued
success in all her endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
