SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 89
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Deirdre Yvonne Holloway, who has been named Fort Bend
Independent School District 2013 Elementary Principal of the
Year; and
WHEREAS, Deirdre Holloway has been the principal at Blue
Ridge Elementary School in the Fort Bend Independent School
District since 2007; a graduate of Sam Houston State University,
she earned a master's degree in school administration from
Prairie View A&M University; and
WHEREAS, Under her exceptional leadership, Blue Ridge
Elementary School has progressed from being rated as a
low-performing campus to being rated as a Recognized and an
Exemplary Campus by the Texas Education Agency; the agency also
named it a Title 1 Distinguished Performance School in 2011 for
strong academic performance maintained over a three-year period,
and the school has been designated a High Hope School, a title
based on a poll measuring the students' sense of well-being; and
WHEREAS, This exemplary educator has consistently
demonstrated a willingness to utilize innovative, creative ideas
and methods to encourage students and teachers alike to strive
for academic excellence; she has fostered an atmosphere in which
faculty and staff truly believe that each student is capable of
success; and
WHEREAS, She is justly deserving of recognition for the
profound impact she has had on the success of Blue Ridge
Elementary School; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Deirdre Yvonne
Holloway on her many achievements and extend congratulations to
her on being named Fort Bend Independent School District 2013
Elementary Principal of the Year; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
