The bill would amend Chapter 694 of the Health and Safety Code to authorize the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to provide financial assistance to eligible counties for indigent burial costs. The bill would limit eligibility to counties with an international border and that are adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico. It is assumed that DSHS could implement the provisions of the bill using current resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
