The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) district engineers to prioritize approved projects for the installation of mile markers on a bridge or overpass that is one-half mile or longer in length. The bill would require TxDOT, in consultation with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, to assess the statewide need for the installation and replacement of mile markers on bridges and overpasses one-half mile or greater in length and on rural highways.Based on the information and analysis provided by TxDOT and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agencies' existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
