The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), in consultation with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI), to conduct a study assessing the statewide need for the replacement of fallen or damaged mile markers on interstate highways where mile markers are required to be installed under state or federal guidelines. The bill would require TxDOT to submit a report on the results of the study to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker of the House, and the presiding officers of the House and Senate committees with jurisdiction over transportation matters. The bill would expire on August 31, 2017.Based on the information provided by TxDOT and TTI, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
