The bill would add a new Section 6.412, Family Code, requiring an attorney, before agreeing to represent a client in a suit for dissolution of marriage, to provide to the client a disclosure with information about arbitration, mediation, collaborative law, and alternatives to retaining an attorney for dissolution of a marriage. The State Bar would be required to adopt the disclosure form and the attorney would be required to obtain a written acknowledgment from the client that the form has been received and the disclosure understood. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
