The bill would amend the Election Code to eliminate the ability to cast a straight-party vote in an election and would require the Secretary of State to remove references to straight-party voting from any instructional posters or any forms of ballots it prescribes. The bill would also repeal various sections of the Election Code related to straight-party voting. The Secretary of State indicates the provisions of the bill could be implemented within existing resources. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2015. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
