                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 17, 2015      TO: Honorable Allen Fletcher, Chair, House Committee on Emerging Issues In Texas Law Enforcement, Select      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1338 by Naishtat (Relating to training for peace officers and first responders on acquired and traumatic brain injuries.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would require the Department of Public Safety, in collaboration with the Health and Human Services Commission and the Texas Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Council, to establish and maintain a training program for peace officers and first responders covering the effects of an acquired brain injury and techniques to interact with persons who have an acquired brain injury. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing this bill could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2015. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
