The bill would require the Department of Public Safety, in collaboration with the Health and Human Services Commission and the Texas Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Council, to establish and maintain a training program for peace officers and first responders covering the effects of an acquired brain injury and techniques to interact with persons who have an acquired brain injury. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing this bill could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2015.
