The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to authorize a judge or magistrate to order the accused to be rearrested or to give another bond in a higher amount if the defendant was formally charged with the same offense for which the defendant was initially arrested, only after providing notice to each party and an opportunity to be heard. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
