                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 5, 2015      TO: Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1388 by Bohac (Relating to certain diseases or illnesses suffered by firefighters and emergency medical technicians.), As Engrossed    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code relating to certain diseases or illnesses suffered by firefighters and emergency medical technicians. The bill would require a statement, to be included in the rebuttal, describing the evidence reviewed before making the determination that a cause not associated with the individual's services caused the disease or illness. The bill prescribes content requirements of a certain insurance carrier's notice of refusal to pay benefits under Section 409.021. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
