                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 1, 2015      TO: Honorable Byron Cook, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1532 by Geren (Relating to quarterly reporting of political contributions and expenditures by certain candidates, officeholders, and political committees; adding provisions subject to a criminal penalty.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Election Code to require quarterly reporting of political contributions and expenditures for certain candidates, officeholders, and political committees. The bill could result in increased administrative costs for the Ethics Commission to update guidelines and materials, however it is anticipated that any costs associated with implementing the legislation could be absorbed within existing agency resources. The bill would take effect January 1, 2016. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
