The bill would continue the Texas Workforce Investment Council for 12 years until 2027, as recommended by the Sunset Commission review. The bill would require the Council to provide advice and report on the development of skill standards across major skilled occupations. The bill would abolish the Texas Skills Standards Board and transfer its powers and duties to the Texas Workforce Investment Council. LBB analysis determined the resulting savings from the transfer would be minimal. The bill would take effect September 1, 2015. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
