A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to reporting of teacher turnover information by public
schools.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 39.306, Education Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (e-1) to read as follows:
(e-1) A teacher who is employed by a school district through
participation in a program that requires a two-year teaching
commitment in an underserved area or low-income community and who
leaves employment with the district after the two-year commitment
is not considered for purposes of reporting teacher turnover
information under Subsection (e)(3).
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016
school year.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
