A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the use of certain money deposited to the state highway
fund for transportation projects in energy-producing regions of
this state.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 222, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 222.007 to read as follows:
Sec. 222.007. ENERGY-PRODUCING REGIONS ACCOUNT. (a) The
comptroller shall credit 25 percent of the money deposited to the
state highway fund under Section 49-g(c), Article III, Texas
Constitution, to an account in that fund known as the
energy-producing regions account.
(b) Money in the energy-producing regions account may be
appropriated only to pay for constructing, maintaining, or
acquiring rights-of-way for local public roadways, other than toll
roads, in energy-producing regions of this state.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
