The bill would amend the Local Government Code to authorize a county clerk to require a person filing a document in person to present a photo identification and could make a copy of the document that would remain confidential. The clerk could not charge a fee to copy or record the information from a photo identification. Local Government Impact There could be a negative fiscal impact to a county that could not charge a fee to copy or record the information from a photo identification; however, the amounts would vary depending on the amount of the fee and the number of copies.
