                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 24, 2015      TO: Honorable Myra Crownover, Chair, House Committee on Public Health      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1952 by Springer (Relating to grants awarded by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Health and Safety Code to prohibit the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas from awarding grants for product development of a private sector entity or to attract, create, or expand a private sector entity. The bill could reduce the revenue generated from product development grant income, however CPRIT indicates that any costs associated with implementing the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving two-thirds vote in each house. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2015. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
