                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 1, 2015      TO: Honorable Jodie Laubenberg, Chair, House Committee on Elections      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1986 by Miller, Rick (Relating to the manner of state financing of primary elections.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Election Code to require the Secretary of State to directly reimburse certain elections officials for expenses related to primary elections. The Secretary of State indicates the provisions of the bill could be implemented within existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2015. Local Government Impact According to the Texas Association of Counties, the bill may have a positive fiscal impact to counties; however, fiscal impact is not anticipated to be significant.
