The bill would amend the Education code related to the authority of military personnel to obtain certification to teach career and technology education classes in public schools. The bill would allow a current or former member of the United States armed services to meet the requirements for a career and technology education certification for a trade if the person has experience in that trade through military service.Based on the analysis of the Texas Education Agency, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact The bill may allow for a bigger pool of potential career and technology education teachers. No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
