The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to permit certain emergency services districts to contract with private legal counsel, or if the district does not employ such legal services, the county attorney, district attorney, or criminal district attorney must represent the district. The bill would authorize a district to use governmental legal services and private legal services as needed. A district would be required to contribute money to the county's general fund account for services provided by those attorneys.The Office of Court Administration reported no significant fiscal impact to the state court is anticipated. Local Government Impact Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
