A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to an annual report of used motor vehicle purchaser
complaints.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 2301, Occupations Code, is
amended by adding Section 2301.206 to read as follows:
Sec. 2301.206. ANNUAL REPORT ON USED MOTOR VEHICLE
COMPLAINTS. (a) In this section, "used motor vehicle" means a
motor vehicle that has been the subject of a first sale.
(b) Not later than December 31 of each year, the department
shall publish on the department's Internet website a publicly
available report that:
(1) identifies and defines categories of complaints
made by purchasers of used motor vehicles to the department;
(2) identifies the number of complaints, if any, in
each category for each used motor vehicle dealer in this state;
(3) analyzes the information in the report and
compares the reported information to that reported in the previous
year; and
(4) identifies any differences in the content and
format of the report from the previous year.
(c) The report must be posted on the department's Internet
website in a searchable and readable format.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
