A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to eligibility for early voting by mail.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 82.002, Election Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
(c) A qualified voter who is the permanent caretaker of a
person who has a disability described by Subsection (a) is eligible
for early voting by mail under this section if the voter's presence
is necessary to protect the life or safety of the person. The
secretary of state shall adopt rules to implement this subsection.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
