The bill would amend the Family Code as it relates to standards for parent education programs provided to families of children at risk for abuse and neglect. The bill would require the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to submit a report on state-funded parenting education programs by December 1, 2016 and then every two years thereafter. DFPS and the Health and Human Services Commission do not anticipate any significant fiscal impacts as a result of complying with the provisions of the bill. Local Government Impact Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
