                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 13, 2015      TO: Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2644 by Blanco (Relating to notice given of election precinct boundary changes.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Election Code to require a registrar to make an electronic version of the updated precinct boundary map on the website of the county if applicable. If the county does not have a website, the registrar must provide copies upon written request. The bill would require commissioners of a county to publish the notice of changing boundary lines on a website if applicable, a newspaper, or on a court house bulletin board and give written notice of each proposed change in a county election precinct boundary to the county chair of each political party. The bill would permit a map of changing boundaries lines to be submitted electronically to the Secretary of State and the State Librarian. The bill would permit the State Librarian to retain the map for more than 20 years. The bill would repeal Section 42.036(a), Election Code. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
