                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 3, 2015      TO: Honorable Jodie Laubenberg, Chair, House Committee on Elections      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2775 by Rodriguez, Eddie (Relating to a petition filed in connection with an application for a place on the ballot.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Election Code to permit a registered voter of a territory to challenge a candidate's petition or signatures on the petition in a district court. Under the provisions of the bill, a single notarized affidavit by a person who obtained the signatures would be valid for all signatures gathered by the person if certain conditions exist. The bill would permit a petition to be corrected and additional signatures to be presented after it has been initially filed and before the deadline for filing a petition. The Office of Court Administration reported no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
