                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 18, 2015      TO: Honorable Abel Herrero, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2777 by Herrero (Relating to the admissibility of certain evidence in the prosecution of offenses involving family violence and other similar offenses committed against a member of the defendant's family or household.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure authorizing the admissibility of certain evidence in the prosecution of offenses involving family violence, dating violence and other criminal acts against a member of the defendant's family or household.  The bill would authorize evidence of other crimes or acts committed against the victim of the alleged offense or against another person for its bearing on relevant matters, with the defendant entitled to notice of the state's intent to introduce such evidence. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
