                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 13, 2015      TO: Honorable Carol Alvarado, Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2870 by Alonzo (Relating to the regulation of firefighters and fire departments by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to define under what conditions a municipal employee may perform wildland fire-fighting duties. The bill would require the Texas Commission on Fire Protection to adopt and implement rules pertaining to the provisions of the bill. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.   Local Government Impact The bill would have a cost to some local governments to hire permanent, full-time fire department employees for duties that could previously be performed by other staff; however, cost could not be determined at this time.
