The bill would amend the Government Code to define under what conditions employees of certain municipalities may perform wildland fire-fighting duties. The bill would require the Texas Commission on Fire Protection to adopt and implement rules pertaining to the provisions of the bill. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources. Local Government Impact The bill would have a cost to some local governments to hire permanent, full-time fire department civil service employees for duties that could previously be performed by other staff; however, cost could not be determined at this time.
