                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 12, 2015      TO: Honorable Jodie Laubenberg, Chair, House Committee on Elections      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2937 by Schofield (Relating to the cancellation of a person's voter registration on notice that the person has acknowledged that the person is not a citizen.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Election Code to direct the voter registrar to immediately cancel a voter's registration upon receipt of a certain list of individuals disqualified from jury service because of citizenship status. The bill would require a voter registrar to send a notification to the voter if a voter's registration is cancelled due to citizenship status. The bill would require a registrar and clerk to submit certain information to parties regarding the citizenship of voters.The bill would repeal Section 16.0332, Election Code.
