                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 1, 2015      TO: Honorable Joseph Pickett, Chair, House Committee on Transportation      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2975 by Martinez, "Mando" (Relating to speed limits.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Transportation Code relating to speed limits.  The bill would allow the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to alter speed limits without having to be presented to the Transportation Commission for approval.  The department's Executive Director or Deputy Executive Director would have the authority to approve all speed limits currently authorized by the Commission.Based on information provided by TxDOT, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
