                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 9, 2015      TO: Honorable Richard Peña Raymond, Chair, House Committee on Human Services      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2990 by Keough (Relating to the authority of the Health and Human Services Commission to obtain criminal history record information regarding applicants for employment and certain current employees.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to provide the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) with the authority to obtain criminal history record information from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) of certain applicants for employment and current employees. The bill specifies that criminal history record information may be obtained for certain employees or job applicants whose position has access to sensitive personal or financial information. HHSC estimates there would be a cost associated with implementing provisions of the bill, however it is anticipated that the cost could be absorbed within existing agency resources. It is assumed that the provisions of the bill related to DPS can be implemented within existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
