Click here to see the committee vote A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT relating to training requirements for peace officers appointed to supervisory positions. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 1701.352(d), Occupations Code, is amended to read as follows: (d) A peace officer who is appointed or will be appointed to the officer's first supervisory position must receive in-service training on supervision as part of the course provided for the officer under Subsection (b) not earlier than the 12th month before the date of that appointment or later than the first anniversary of [during the 24-month period after] the date of that appointment. SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only to an appointment made on or after the effective date of this Act. An appointment made before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the appointment was made, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. SECTION 3.
