The bill would amend the Transportation Code, relating to the release of certain information relating to motor vehicle accidents, to require a person to submit both the date of an accident and the name of any person involved in an accident in order to obtain vehicle accident information held by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) or another governmental entity. Under the current provisions of the Transportation Code, a person may obtain such accident information by providing two or more of the following: the date of the accident; the specific location of the accident; or the name of any person involved in the accident.Based on the analysis of TxDOT and the Department of Public Safety, it is assumed any duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
