The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to permit a magistrate to accept and may consider a sworn statement provided by telephone or electronic communication for purposes of issuing a search warrant and sets out the procedures that must be followed when an applicant for a search warrant attests to the contents of an affidavit submitted by reliable electronic means.Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
