The bill would amend the Transportation Code to specify the individual who requests an additional specimen of blood is responsible for the costs associated with the sample and the specimen is not required to be analyzed by a lab accredited by the Department of Public Safety. Under the provisions of the bill, if peace officer or other individual interferes with an independent analysis of a blood specimen, the analysis taken by order of the peace officer is inadmissible as evidence in court.The Office of Court Administration reported no significant fiscal impact to the state court is anticipated. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
