The bill would amend Chapter 51 of the Transportation Code, to authorize the Texas Transportation Commission to use state funds, including undedicated portions of the State Highway Fund, to assist the United States Army Corps of Engineers with the costs of maintenance and dredging activities for the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW), fund capital project for infrastructure facilities along the GIWW, and fund studies to determine the feasibility of capital projects. Based on the information provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), it is assumed the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant operational or fiscal impact to TxDOT or the state.
