A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
Relating to reimbursement of county expenses for special
legislative elections.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 203, Election Code, is amended by adding
Section 203.015 as follows:
Section 203.015. Reimbursement of Election Expenses.
Within 90-days of a special election held under this chapter on a
date other than a uniform election date, the secretary of state
shall certify the expenses incurred by each county in the conduct of
the election. The comptroller shall reimburse each county for its
certified expenses from funds appropriated for that purpose.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
