The bill would amend the Family Code to conform state law to the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act, 2008, to address enforcement of certain child support orders. Based on information provided by the Office of the Attorney General, the Office of Court Administration, and the Office of the Governor, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished through existing resources. However, the Office of Attorney General Child Support Division estimated a loss of $480.8 million in Federal Funds for the 2016-17 biennium ($252.4 million in fiscal year 2016 and $228.4 million in fiscal year 2017) to the Child Support Division if the bill is not enacted due to being out of compliance with federal requirements.The bill would take effect July 1 ,2015 upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in each house. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2015. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
