                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 27, 2015      TO: Honorable Larry Phillips, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB3596 by Huberty (Relating to school safety and the prevention of school violence.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would allow the Commissioner of Education to provide school district peace officers certain programs and access to data systems to assist with their duties and the collection of school safety and violence prevention. The bill would allow the Commissioner provide assistance to school peace officers and other law enforcement agencies for the protection of school facilities.The bill would allow the Commissioner to provide school districts, public junior college districts and other law enforcement agencies access to data and information management system to assist in the preparation of multihazard emergency operations plans.  The Texas Education Agency and the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement indicate no significant fiscal impact resulting from implementing the provisions of the bill. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
