                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 24, 2015      TO: Honorable Byron Cook, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB37 by Cook (Relating to the reporting of certain political contributions and political expenditures by certain persons; adding provisions subject to a criminal penalty.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Election Code to add a reporting requirement with the Ethics Commission of certain political contributions and expenditures by a person or group that is not a political committee but accepts political contributions and makes political expenditures of a certain threshold. The bill would require the agency to make changes to their electronic filing system to allow for a new filer type, however the agency indicates that any costs could be absorbed within existing resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2015.
