The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code as it relates to the punishment of certain controlled substance offenses committed in a drug-free zone. Under the provisions of the bill the penalty for the possession, manufacture, or delivery of a Penalty Group 1-A substance in a drug-free zone would be enhanced. The Texas Department of Public Safety indicates they do not anticipate a significant fiscal impact as a result of implementing the provisions of the bill. This analysis assumes implementing the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional agencies. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
