Smithee, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB388 by Raymond (Relating to the duration of protective orders issued in cases of family violence against persons who are subsequently confined or imprisoned.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Family Code to extend the period for which a family violence protective order is effective and when it expires from one to two years if the subject of the protective order is confined or imprisoned on the expiration date of the order or within one year of the person's release from imprisonment or confinement. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
