The bill would amend the Family Code to extend the period for which a family violence protective order is effective and when it expires from one to two years dependent on if and when the subject of the protective order is confined or imprisoned. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
