A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to funding law enforcement training for veterans from
state and federal funds or grants.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is
amended by adding Section 1701.165 to read as follows:
Sec. 1701.165. VETERANS ASSISTANCE. (a) In this section,
"military veteran" has the meaning assigned by Section 55.001.
(b) The commission shall seek to obtain state and federal
funds, including grants, to assist local law enforcement agencies
in providing training to military veterans who seek to become
officers.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
