The bill would amend the Business and Commerce Code to exempt the intrastate manufacture of a firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition from federal law or federal regulation, including registration. Additionally, the bill would require the Office of the Attorney General to seek a declaratory judgment from a federal district court that the bill is consistent with the United States Constitution upon receiving written notification from an individual with the intent to manufacture of a firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2015.The Office of the Attorney General indicated the costs associated with implementation of the bill could be absorbed with existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
